It’s in there, somewhere, amid
A dozen drafts
Status updates written, then deleted
Tweets left unsent
It’s in there, somewhere, amid
Reluctance to be judged
Unwillingness to disappoint
Yearning to be liked
It’s in there, somewhere, amid
Crippling perfectionism
Misplaced inadequacy
Rampant inertia
It’s in there, somewhere.
So clear out the clutter
Face the fear
And speak.

no time to talk/write now. rampant inertia is pushing me out the door to go grocery shopping.
Thanks Laurel. Good read. I haven’t written anything for so long, you’ve inspired me to get on with it.

Del, I’m looking forward to reading your next post!

Great advice. I often catch myself writing what I think others will want to read rather than what I really want to say. It’s hard to break that habit.

Wow… incredibly powerful post that punches you in the stomach (or the brain?) with its brevity.

I write like I speak, I just open my mouth and the BS dribbles out, so either I get lucky or I hide behind the curtains.

Thank you so much! I hope you do publish them! 🙂
Enjoyed this! So true! I find myself sometimes creating for others, more than myself. I know sometimes, I need to, but other times it is great to just create something you want to.

Hi Dawn
First time here.
When I first started on this journey, although I spoke it was not a voice. Then I learned it did not matter what others thought, it was what I felt that needed to be voiced. Then I was able to see who I really was and what was important to say. You soon come to realize not everyone will agree or even care each and every time, but that is okay. It is a journey of growing and if someone else benefits then that is a plus. We owe the world what we have inside, it is like a bird with a beautiful song who never sings, it has robbed the forest of its music.

concise, succinct-
I can only write intuitively with my finger-tips, discovering as the words flow and by disconnecting my analytical brain
