Today’s Gratitude List + March 2015 Gratitude Linkup

I saw a graphic that someone posted on Facebook the other day about Daylight Saving Time that cast my (mostly negative) attitude toward turning the clocks ahead in a whole new light. I don’t remember the exact wording, but it was something along the lines of, “Don’t think of it as losing an hour of sleep. Think of it as losing an hour of winter.”

I love it!

In a lot of ways, that’s what the practice of gratitude is teaching me – not to pretend that the negative stuff doesn’t exist, but to acknowledge that it’s there and how it makes me feel, and then choose to reframe it in a positive light.

And speaking of light… here’s to an extra hour of it in the evening!

In no particular order, here is my own gratitude list for this moment in time. I hope that after reading it you’ll go on to write and share your own!

  • Fun times with friends – playing trivia (and winning a gift card!), discussing books (and catching up on what’s going on in our lives), celebrating a milestone birthday (and being surrounded by the warmth of love and friendship).
  • Good news for a good friend.
  • Having a doctor who is readily available to see me when I need to see her, and knowing that I won’t even get a bill for my visit (thanks to Canada’s wonderful health care system).
  • Memories of fun vacations.
  • Being able to take a day off work to relax and gear up for what promises to be a crazy few weeks (thanks in part to various organizations’ upcoming fiscal year end).
  • Temperatures above 0°C! Crossing my fingers for the disappearance of lots of snow and ice over the next few days.
  • That no matter where I am in our house, I’m never too far away from a darling cat who’s ready to play or cuddle.
  • A reliable vehicle that starts and runs effortlessly, and takes us wherever we need to go.
  • Anticipation – thinking ahead to Spring, chatting about what we’ll do in our yard, planning barbecues with friends.

Now it’s your turn!
