Over the past couple of months our dining out budget has been seriously scaled back, so when we do go out it feels like an extra special treat. Today’s happiness, then, is brought to you by an early afternoon brunch with Peter at our favourite local diner. The coffee was great, the food was delicious, and both Deb and Patti were there today (plus, we showed up after the morning rush, so they even had time to sit and chat for a few minutes). All sorts of happy-making things going on!
Our friendship with the two of them, and our connection with the diner, hold a permanent spot on my gratitude list.
Hope you’ll join me in this week’s Gratitude Linkup!
(If you’d like a bit of background on why I started the Gratitude Linkup, check out this post.)

My Gratitude List
In no particular order, here is my own gratitude list for this moment in time. I hope that after reading it you’ll go on to write and share your own!
- Mondays off! After many years of working five days a week, being able to cut down to four is a real blessing, and something that’s always on my gratitude list.
- Sincere compliments.
- Beautiful weather for our apple picking afternoon with a friend.
- The fact that working part time at my salaried job allows me many non-office hours each week to devote to my own interests and creative pursuits.
- Plans coming together to meet up with friends during my upcoming trip to Victoria.
- Our public library and all the free resources it offers us. I’m also grateful that our book club’s selection for this month was available immediately, and that I was able to put a hold on it for myself (because I’ll have plenty of time to read while flying across the country!).
- The love and affection I get from our two sweet cats (who I am going to miss terribly while I’m away).
- Moments of feeling really good about myself.

We’re so looking forward to Wednesday. I intend to give you a double- barrelled hug so you can take one home to my bud Peter.

Let’s see… one of my daughters and her husband and son and daughter had a great trip to a big pumpkin patch, and made pictures and my youngest daughter survived a late night visit to a haunted house, out in the country, and a friend just gave me a recipe for what amounts to being a stuffed bell pepper soup… oh, and I got new Halloween candy today. I bought once already, really early, and that round did not survive. Just between us, I really don’t expect what we got today to be here at the end of the month… All in all, lots to be thankful for…

What a wonderful list! I totally hear you on the Halloween candy… I tend to buy stuff Peter and I don’t like for that very reason. 😉

Hi Laurel,
On my gratitude list today is how easy it is to make delicious, healthy homemade chicken soup with fresh veggies – with a little help from a package of dried chicken noodle soup mix!
And friends to share my yummy soup with 🙂 And my connection with God, which gives me an unending source of love and gratitude for my life. And my husband, and my dogs. And my blog. And house. And healthy body.
Thank you for reminding me to be grateful for what I have!
In peace and passion,
Laurie

Loved your list, Laurel. That diner sounds special and how great to be good friends with the owners. Your list inspired me so much, I had to make my own list and I even added the linky in. OOOH! I feel so high tech when I insert code in and it actually works. Thanks for reminding me to practice gratitude daily. I’m grateful to have you as a friend!

Wow! How wonderful of you to work only four days a week and get Mondays off: that would be a dream for me! 😉 My main gratitudes today are Indian summer weekend, especially today and also taking care of my feet – various issues – since I’m taking a blogging break from posting daily. <3

It’s always great to enjoy not only the food and atmosphere of a restaurant, but also the people. I hope your upcoming trip goes really well and you have so much fun and…happiness! 🙂

We don’t go out often either, it is always such a treat when we do and we tend to go to our favorite place as well.
