The Best Part of Today

What was the best part of today?

Was it waking up to yet another gorgeous morning in my new city, the sky’s blue clarity and sunny brilliance banishing old remembrances of unbearably long stretches of greyness and seemingly endless rain?

Was it the kindness of friends, old and new, taking time to make me a part of their day, to encourage and honour me with their caring words?

Was it the delicious anticipation of my decadently-long four-day weekend to come?

Was it hearing good news of exciting happenings in friends’ lives?

Was it the meditative peace of tending my herb garden?

Was it the feeling of joy bubbling up from depths of contentment, just for being alive… right here, right now?

Yes.
