The best is yet to come?

NaBloPoMo November 2012 Prompt
Wednesday, November 14, 2012:

Tell us about the best meal you ever cooked.

This one is tough – if not impossible – to answer, as I really don’t cook all that often!

Back when I was single, I invested very little time or energy into day-to-day meal preparation. Dinner was (at best) a bowl of pasta or (at worst) a bag of microwave popcorn – certainly not a very healthy way to live.

Then I got married, and my wonderful husband began taking care of the lion’s share of the cooking, both for the two of us as well as any time we’ve entertained. Unlike me in my single days, he insists on balanced meals, and does a terrific job of making sure we’re properly fed each day.

It’s only since his surgery that I’ve been taking care of everything around the house – cooking included.

It’s not that I don’t like to cook – it’s just that, for whatever reason, I haven’t done a lot of it throughout my life. I actually quite enjoy the process of buying, preparing, and cooking food. I have a lot of fun getting creative by putting a meal together made up of whatever I happen to have at the time… and I really love it when someone’s face lights up with pleasure when they taste what I’ve made.

But as to the best meal I’ve ever cooked? I’ll have to get back to you on that one, as I have a feeling the best is yet to come!

How about you? What was the best meal you ever cooked?
