Tangled Tuesday No. 78

Between receiving some delightful tangling goodies, learning a new (and VERY fun) tangling-related skill, and getting started on my somewhat ambitious 2016 tangling project, it’s been a full week of creative goodness. Happy Tangled Tuesday!

Tangling Goodies

The mail carrier brought something thrilling to me this week – my welcome kit from Zentangle® headquarters in preparation for my Certified Zentangle Teacher (CZT) seminar attendance in June.

My Zentangle welcome kit arrived today - yay! June will be here before we know it! #zentangle #czt #cztseminar

Receiving the kit prompted me to start checking into flights to Providence, and while it’s still a little too early to book anything, I was encouraged to see that the prices out of Detroit seem to be fairly reasonable.

So exciting!

New Tangles

Since my previous Tangled Tuesday post I have learned the following new-to-me tangles.

Work in Progress

In my previous Tangled Tuesday post I shared my goal to publish a colouring book in 2016, and asked for your thoughts. Thank you so much to those of you who took the time to respond, either as comments on the post or via e-mail! I so appreciate your feedback, and am taking all of your excellent suggestions into consideration as I plan and work on this project.

This week I cracked open my new sketchbook and created my first one-page design, so progress toward a colouring book has been made! While I’ve decided not to post photos of the completed designs until I’m ready to publish, I’ll keep a running tally of my progress here in Alphabet Salad so that you have an idea as to how the project is going and when you might expect to see the finished product.

Finished Projects

I tackled another of my tangling-related 50 by 50 Project goals – Learn to draw ZenGems – on the weekend.

Let me tell you two things about the process. First of all, Eni Oken’s comprehensive ZenGems tutorial is fantastic and well worth the price of the download. Secondly, drawing ZenGems is SO MUCH FUN and I can’t believe I waited so long to give it a shot!

I need a whole lot more practice – this is the first time I’ve worked with coloured pencils, after all, so my blending skills have tons of room for improvement. Still, I am rather thrilled with the result of my first effort!

Challenges

Since my previous Tangled Tuesday post I have completed the following tangle challenges.

Zentangle 131

Zentangle 131 for joey’s weekly tangle challenge #102 – Roman Numerals (II)

In this case, a photo really doesn’t do justice to the wonderful sparkle and shine I achieved with my Gelly Roll Stardust Galaxy Pens. Some things are better seen in person, I guess!

ZIA 81

ZIA 81 for Weekly Challenge #257: “Guest Post – Oooh Shiny!”
(angled to make the sparkles a little more visible)

Now on to a new week of tangling!
