Tangled Tuesday No. 55

Guess what, dear and patient readers? I’ve been doing some actual tangling lately – not just messing around with the business end of things – so after a couple of weeks of breaks I finally have a proper Tangled Tuesday post to share for your reading (and hopefully viewing) pleasure. Enjoy, and please do let me know what you think!

Tangled Goodies

Now that I’ve put the finishing touches on both my Redbubble and Society6 portfolios and shops, all that’s left for me to do is to add new pieces as I create them. This week a brand new piece of art that I haven’t yet shared here (until today, that is – see below!) joined my collections, and is available on both Redbubble and Society 6 as art prints and on a variety of fun products. I’d love it if you’d check them out!

New Tangles

I haven’t been doing a whole lot over the past few weeks in terms of adding new tangle patterns to my repertoire, but have learned a couple of them – Featherfall and Stitch, both from TanglePatterns.com.

Finished Projects

I’m happy to say that I’ve wrapped up two new pieces – one which I’d been working on for quite awhile now (and am not particularly thrilled about), and another which I started and finished this past weekend (and am quite delighted with).

First, my not-so-favourite piece. I like parts of it, but I don’t love how it came together as a whole. That’s often what happens with tangling, I find – I might have an idea at the beginning as to how I want a piece to turn out, but it ends up veering off in an entirely different direction. Sometimes the end result is better than what I’d pictured in the first place, but in cases like this it’s… not. Ah, well – they can’t all be winners!

Secondly, here’s the one that makes me happy. VERY happy! I love swirls and spiral shapes to begin with, and this one pretty much came together just the way I’d hoped it would. I think this may be one of my favourite finished pieces yet, which is why I was excited to add it to my Redbubble and Society 6 shops. (I love how it looks on various products, and have my eye on the mugs in particular!)

Finally, I completed The Diva’s Challenge this week (for the first time in ages!), which was a guest post by Sharla Hicks, CZT who challenged us to use undulating patterns in “C” and “S” shapes. I learned Featherfall specifically for this challenge and used it as a monotangle (along with some stipple shading) inside an undulating border, and I’m quite pleased with the end result.
