Tangled Tuesday No. 36

So 2015 is here now (Happy New Year, in case you missed my earlier greetings!) and, after a couple of very quiet weeks in the tangling department, I’m slowly starting to pick things up once again. I’m actually surprised that I didn’t do more Zentangle®-related stuff over my holidays, but perhaps I needed a break from everything! Regardless, here’s to a brand new year of tangling goodness… starting with the first Tangled Tuesday of the new year.

New Tangles

This week I learned Midnight, Kiss, and Jesterz, all from TanglePatterns.com.

I also learned Hitched (from TangleOoh!) so that I could participate in The Diva’s Challenge this week.

Finished Projects

The designs I did to represent my 2015 Word of the Year both used tangle patterns – a design called Slink on the larger one (which is now attached inside the front cover of my 2015 art journal), and Beedle on the smaller piece (which, as you can see, is propped up on my desk lamp as a daily reminder) – so even though they’re both very plain and simple, I’m going to call them ZIAs and add them to my portfolio.

And I’m so glad that The Diva’s Challenge is back for the new year! This week was a UMT (Use My Tangle) Challenge, which is where participants learn and use a tangle created by one of the readers. As I mentioned earlier, this week’s piece was to be based on Hitched by HeidiSue at TangleOoh!, and this is how mine turned out.

I’m not normally a huge fan of monotangles – that is, a tile made up of just the one tangle design – but for the challenge this week I was quite happy to do it, as this particular pattern has infinite variations and I had fun playing around with it.

It’s good to be tangling again!
