Since my little corner of the tangling world seems to be unfolding in exciting new ways, I thought I’d take what began with my Tangling from A to Z project and venture a little further into something that might just become a new tradition on Alphabet Salad…
Tangled Tuesday will be a place for me to share my explorations and discoveries in the wonderful world of Zentangle®1 – new designs I’ve learned, pieces I recently finished, thoughts and ramblings about tangling and the creative process, my progress towards becoming a Certified Zentangle Teacher™ (CZT™), links to tangling resources, reviews of related books and supplies, and so on. The scope is vast, and I’m excited about the possibilities. Hope you’ll follow along!
While tangling supplies are simple – paper, a pen, and a pencil – and no special purchases are required, I personally love the tiles sold on the Zentangle site. (This is NOT a paid endorsement – just the words of a satisfied customer!) Since my own stock was running low and I knew I’d need more to tangle and send to any new sponsors, I ordered a fresh batch and they arrived last week.
Once Tangling from A to Z was complete and I had a little more time to work on other projects, I started an 8″ x 10″ ZIA (Zentangle-Inspired Art) for my mom. I began at 6:00 one evening, and when I finally realized that my neck was starting to stiffen a little I looked at the clock and realized I’d been tangling for three hours! You know how the outside world kind of slips away when you’re lost in a really good book? It’s similar with tangling, and its ability to simultaneously relax and stimulate, transport and calm, is one of the things I love so much about it.
This week I finished several pieces to be sent to my latest sponsors.
After being limited to three tangle patterns per tile during Tangling from A to Z, it was rather fun to have the freedom to go wild with as many as I wanted!
As I was addressing the envelopes for the sponsors, I was inspired to create a few tiny tangled stickers to add to the seal on each – a little extra tangled touch.
In other developments… a couple of members of one of the Zentangle Facebook groups of which I’m a part requested poster-sized prints of the tangle sampler I created for Tangling from A to Z.
They were hoping to use them for demonstration purposes in upcoming classes they were scheduled to teach… and of course I was happy to oblige! I developed a legend with the names of each tangle shown to include with each poster and am planning on getting them in the mail this week.
This week’s tangling plans include continuing (maybe finishing?) Mom’s ZIA, creating pieces for new sponsors, and filling in the gaps by creating more tiny tangled stickers (which are incredibly fun to make, I might add!).
Looking forward to lots of tangled goodness!
