Tangled Tuesday No. 22 + 100 Happy Days – Day 18

Today’s happiness is brought to you by… drumroll, please… dinner! Dinner in general (because the fact that Peter takes care of preparing it always makes me happy), but also – more specifically – today it was the most delicious spiced potato wedges that brought a smile to my face. It had been one of those days where I skipped breakfast and didn’t get around to eating much of a lunch, so by the time dinner rolled around I was absolutely ravenous. Dinner was yummy anyway, but even more so on a relatively empty stomach!

100 Happy Days – Day 18

I was too hungry to actually clean up the plate and take a proper photo (hey, I never claimed to be a food blogger OR pro food photographer!), but rest assured that these potatoes made me VERY happy indeed!

Now, in terms of life in my little tangling world, I’m afraid today’s Tangled Tuesday post is a bit of a bust. Here we go, such as it is…

New Tangles

Since I’d worked my way through to the end of Yoga for Your Brain by Sandy Steen Bartholomew, I had a look through my tangling library to see what I could tackle next. I had a couple of choices, and in the ended I decided on AlphaTangle: A Truly Tangled Alphabet by the same author.

As it turns out, though, I’m a little disappointed to find that I won’t be able to learn very many new-to-me designs from this book. As I’ve mentioned in the past, there is often overlap and some repetition between the various Zentangle®1 books, and this one is no exception – so several of its designs are ones that I’d already added to my repertoire. Plus, the book is made up of finished and labelled tangle examples rather than specific instructions. I’ve managed to piece together instructions for a number of the designs from both TanglePatterns.com and the author’s Tangle Library iPhone app (more about that in this post), but there are several that I’ve had no luck finding – quite possibly because they are “official” Zentangle designs which are only taught at the workshops and not available online. (Guess I’ll just have to get myself to the workshop to learn them!)

So quite a bit of my time this week was spent on the background work of searching for and printing instructions for my tangle sketchbook, and zero time actually learning new tangles. Ah, well – there’s always next week!

Tangling-in-Progress

I’m afraid that, in spite of my best intentions to complete the last three letters in my tangled alphabet, I only ended up getting partway through the letter X and no further. So… since I have nothing new to share with you, I thought I’d post a few of my earlier pieces. Wouldn’t want this update to be entirely tangle-free, now, would we?! 🙂

Coming Soon

This week’s tangling goals include:

  • I couldn’t do it last week, but can I finish my Zenletter collection this week? All that’s left are the rest of X and then Y and Z… well, I’ll give it my best shot!
  • Depending on when I finish the alphabet, the next step is to take the originals to be scanned at the print shop so that I can start uploading the designs to various products on Ten Thousand Tangles.
  • Continue adding products to Ten Thousand Tangles.
  • Photograph my previously-completed set of four Zendalas and set up listings to sell the originals in my as-yet-to-be-opened Etsy store. (Sigh. OK, this little project is now ON HOLD while I focus my energies on completing the alphabet series.)
