Tangled Tuesday No. 15

Has it already been a week since my last Tangled Tuesday post?! It’s sure been a busy one, full of fun and socializing and exciting news and even a big giveaway… but I still managed to find some time for tangling, so here we go!

Tangling Goodies

(I’m afraid this goodie is just for iPhone/iPad users, but I think it’s still worth sharing… so non-iOS users, please bear with me for a couple of minutes!)

Did you know that there’s an iOS app specifically designed to be used as a reference library of tangling designs and instructions? It’s called Tangle Library: Yoga For Your Brain and is based on the book of the same name by Sandy Steen Bartholomew.

The app includes step-out instructions for 40 tangles along with a camera/library feature that enables you to photograph, tag, and keep a record of your own work. In-app purchases based on Sandy Steen Bartholomew’s other books are also available, and currently include the Totally Tangled Pack, Kidz Pack, and AlphaTangle Pack.

At the time of writing, the app costs $4.99 and in-app purchases are $1.99 each. This might be a little pricier than you’d normally spend on an app, but in my opinion it’s worth having for the portability alone! And I can vouch for the fact that the instructions are clear and easy to follow, just like the ones featured in the books.

I haven’t taken advantage of the camera/library feature yet, but will definitely be exploring this in the future. I’m thinking it would be a great way to carry my tangle sketchbooks with me without all the bulk.

Please let me know if you do decide to give the app a try – I’d love to know what you think!

New Tangles

This week I started working my way through Yoga for Your Brain by Sandy Steen Bartholomew. I began with learning Muffit, Skein, Tide, Tideberry, and Pixie.

If you decide to follow along in Yoga for Your Brain you’ll notice that I will skip a few of the designs. This isn’t because I don’t like or want to do them, but because I’ve previously learned them through one of my other books (there is often overlap and some repetition between the various Zentangle®1 books).

Tangling-in-Progress

I’d hoped to finish both M and N this past week, but didn’t quite get there – currently I’m about a quarter of the way through N. I’ll have to step on it if I want to wrap up this whole alphabet project in September! I really need to finish and get my originals scanned SOON, as I’d love to start offering monogrammed products on Ten Thousand Tangles before the holiday season is upon us.

Finished Projects

This week I did finish the letter M!

Coming Soon

This week’s tangling goals include:

  • Carry on with my Zenletter collection – completing N, O, and P.
  • Continue adding products to Ten Thousand Tangles.
  • Create pieces for new sponsors.
  • Photograph my previously-completed set of four Zendalas and set up listings to sell the originals in my as-yet-to-be-opened Etsy store. (Update! They have been moved from downstairs into my office, and are now sitting on my desk where I can see them every day and be reminded that something needs to be DONE about them. Progress?!)
