One year ago today – can it really be that long? – we said goodbye to our Spidercat. She was 20 years old, had lived with me for 19, and was the dearest, sweetest cat I have ever known. She’d been in my life for so long it felt as though she was a part of me, and letting her go was heartwrenching.
These days Peter and I are blessed to live with and care for two new little furballs, Felix and his brother Oscar, as well as their wonderful mama Grisabella. We love each of them for their own unique personalities, but no cat could possibly replace my lovely girl.
Missing you, little Spider.

20 is a good long age for a kitty. And when you have had a special one? Well, I get it. 😉 Lucky you. Both.

We lost both our cat and dog last year after 16 years with them both. It’s a tough loss. Hugs to you.

Hi from one cat lover to another. Amazing that you got to have Spider for 20 years. We have a dear cat going on 14 years now that we dearly love too. I am touched by your post about how it has been one year now. You and Cheryl of A Pleasant House are now 2 new cat lovers that I have met online.

What a beautiful cat Spider was. Pets are truly family. So sorry for your loss. Although Spider enjoyed a long life, her longevity would make her loss even more painful because she had been by your side for so long. Hold on to your memories. HUGS.

I’m so sorry for your loss of your loved pet, Laurel. Even though I have a dog I love dearly now, I still feel sad remembering the last one I lost…seventeen years ago. Our sweeties always have a special place in our hearts.

I’m so sorry. Looking at Spider Kitty reminds me my very best friend just found her best friend Poseidon sleeping his last sleep in her room just a couple of weeks ago. Poseidon was a solid black kitty much like yours with a huge swinging belly. He was 16 years old and had been with her through a wedding and divorce, living in Germany, Minnesota, North Dakota and Tennessee. He was a special kitty. I hope your three babies bring you as much love and happiness as Spider kitty did. -big hugs!

So sorry to hear.. Losing a furbaby is so heartbreaking.. I lost my Ebony in 2009 when he was 18. He strongly resembled your Spider, down to the white patch. Miss him every day.

Can’t believe it’s been a year already. I know how much you love her. And I’m so glad you were willing to open your hearts and home to three new cats–they’re very lucky to have you.

I really can’t believe how fast this year flew by. Having three new furballs in the house has probably contributed to that. 🙂
