Recipe for Gingerbread Pumpkin Pie

In case you happened to miss it, I waxed eloquent about my adoration for the flavour of pumpkin, specifically pumpkin pie, in a post I wrote earlier this month. Now that Thanksgiving weekend is here (yes, we Canadians celebrate Thanksgiving this weekend!) I figure it’s time for me to put my money where my pumpkin-loving mouth is, and share a favourite recipe with you.

I hope you enjoy it!

Gingerbready Punkin Pie - from the kitchen of Laurel Regan at Alphabet SaladWhile I absolutely adore plain ol’ pumpkin pie, either on its own or with a little whipped cream, sometimes it’s fun to mix things up a little… and this Gingerbread Pumpkin Pie does just that. It’s pumpkin pie with a subtle spicy-molasses kick, and it’s mouth-wateringly delicious (if I do say so myself).

I must confess up front: my baking skills aren’t advanced enough for me to have developed this recipe from scratch. Years ago I found a basic recipe I liked (I couldn’t even say where it was from, unfortunately, as it’s been that long) and tweaked the ingredients until I was happy with the end result.

And this is the end result!

If you decide to give it a try, please let me know how it worked out! I’m planning to make it tomorrow, and can’t wait until the aroma is wafting through the house.

Tasting it will be even better.

Pumpkin or apple pie at Thanksgiving (or choose any fall holiday)? Do you have a family recipe?
