Up until now I’ve been using a mishmash of my favorites list, NaBloPoMo links, BlogHer posts, e-mail subscriptions, and so on – basically, whatever happens to be on offer at a particular blog – to keep up with my bloggy friends.
Now that I look at it, it seems as though the one common avenue offered by almost every blog is an RSS feed. From now on, in an effort to simplify my blog reading and with the goal of making the most of my online time, I’ve decided to use Google Reader as a “one stop shop” for all of the blogs I follow.
So… the reason for this post is to request that, if you happen to notice over the next while that I’ve unsubscribed from your blog’s mailing list, please don’t be offended! I’m still following you, just in a different (and hopefully more efficient) way. 🙂

Interesting. I have to say, I like the convenience of the blog roll. But that’s probably the way things will wind up, with google+ And thanks for the Nablopo link here — I didn’t know about that one, though I am on Blogher….

You’re welcome! I’m having a ton of fun with NaBloPoMo this year!
I used to use the blogroll on Blogger, then Google Reader, then started getting e-mail subscriptions and other things… but it’s just getting too complicated to remember what’s where! I think it’ll be much easier when I can do everything through Google Reader.

I thought it would be easier to remember to check everything if I had updates in my Inbox, but it didn’t work well because not every blog offers e-mail subscriptions! Having everything in one central place is working a lot better for me – Google Reader is great.

Now that Google deleted the GFC for non-bloggers I don’t know how to reconnect with my follower. Is it the same with G+?

That was too bad Google did that – I’ve heard of a lot of people who were upset about losing GFC! Google Reader is great, because it doesn’t matter whether someone is using Blogger, or WordPress, or whatever – as long as they have a feed on their site you can follow them and get all the updates in one place.

I love Google Reader! I haven’t yet added the GBE friends yet, but that is next on my list. 🙂

Google Reader is great! I’ve been slowly working through adding all the blogs I follow, but it takes awhile (especially since I’m trying to organize them into folders so I remember where I first found them!). It’ll be great when it’s all done, though – much more efficient than what I’ve been doing up until now.

Dear Jedi,
You are teaching me wise things. I just googled, google reader and found out what it was. I’m a spastic. You are not. Wax on. Wax off.
