One of the first visible signs that the summer season has officially kicked off in Windsor is a change in the landscape of our riverfront plaza: the arrival of the colourful rides, games of chance, and carnival treat booths of Summerfest. So for today’s Photo Friday challenge prompt of “Summer” I chose a favourite photo I took at the festival a couple of years ago.
Just looking at this picture I remember standing in the midst of the happy chaos of music, noise, and laughter from the rides and games, tasting the melting sweetness of my pink cotton candy, looking up at the bright sunshine and basking in the warmth of the day.
Happy Summer!
What do you love about summer?

Such a funny question, Laurel – seeing I just wrote a blog on why I hate summer! But when I remember summers as a kid, ahhhhhh those are precious memories. Riding my bike, hands off the handlebars and my eyes closed!

I used to dislike summer, but found that changed when I moved to Windsor – we’re all grateful for summer after a cold winter!

I love a good ferris wheel shot, but I HATE riding them. Motion sickness! Love the light leak look!

Thank you! I haven’t been on a ferris wheel in years.

Summer is a long and hot spell in India. My first memory of the Ferris wheel dates from 5th grade. As it made its circular motions, I sat in there completely frozen. I could not even move my fingers and there were my parents and brother sitting there with me and having their hearty laughs, at me.

I am not prone to carnivals or its rides unfortunately (or not)! 😉 However, I do enjoy summer fruits and drinks, eating lots of salads (I make with summer fruit primarily and other ingredients), outdoor festivals, free concerts outdoors including dancing outside and the like. 🙂 <3

Well, I live in a part of the world where we say there are only three seasons – hot, hotter and hottest. And right now it seems like the hottest season, though for some it feels like hotter. What I am looking forward right now is the “hot” season 🙂 Enjoy your summer!

This pic of giant wheel reminds me of my day out with my nephew. When the wheel rotates and reaches the top it is kinda scary. My nephew was almost in tears and i was scared to even move. haaah. Sounds silly. Then i did realize that i am scared of heights.

Oh, a ferris wheel is definitely not a place for one who’s scared of heights!

Cool photo. 🙂 I remember those carnivals, but we haven’t had any here in the ‘burbs since the 70s. Too bad; they were fun. We usually go to the CNE in Toronto every August though. What I love best about summer is the warm temperatures. Not quite as fond of the humidity, but it’s still better than winter, because I don’t tolerate cold well. Can you believe it’s almost August?! Summers pass by much too quickly!

I’ve never been to the CNE – though I have been to the PNE in Vancouver which I imagine is similar (if on a much smaller scale!). I know what you mean – summers really do fly by!
