There are a few photos I could have chosen for today’s Photo Friday “Detail” challenge prompt, but in the end I decided to go with one of a dusty, dilapidated picture frame that was left behind in our garage when the previous owners moved out.
It’s in terrible shape, and definitely not solid enough in its present state to be used for its intended purpose, but I love the intricate designs and am hoping to repurpose it some day. (Any ideas as to how it might be used, other than as a traditional picture frame? Suggestions welcome!)
Moving on to my NaBloPoMo (National Blog Posting Month) pics for this month’s “Photo” theme…

May 5 – Your Style
I kind of struggled with this one, as I really don’t think I have a particular style – at least not one that can be easily defined – so I decided to take a rather lighthearted approach to the prompt. In the end, it probably conveys my “style” about as well as can be expected!
May 6 – Your Love
The inscription on each of our wedding rings reads Never doubt I love, which is the title of a song by Melanie Doane (lyrics inspired by Hamlet’s letter to Ophelia). Peter and I heard her perform it in concert, and immediately knew without either of us saying anything that it was “our” song. At some point before our wedding I actually had a dream that we had these words engraved in our rings, and the idea stuck with me long after I awoke. I mentioned it to Peter, and he said right away, “Let’s do it!” So we did, and here they are.
May 7 – Your Time
I went with a very literal interpretation of this prompt, using a wall clock that I had made from one of my own photos. My time – get it?!
May 8 – Focus
For this one I had fun playing around with my fisheye lens and some filters to bring the word focus into focus. (See what I did there?!) Oh, and in case you’re curious, this is from a page in The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron.
And that’s it for now. Happy Friday!
Got any exciting plans for the weekend?
Please share!

Love your rings – how beautiful!

Great photos. I feel your pain with the whole “too much black” and “cat hair.” I’ve definitely been there. Love your detail photo too.

I can relate, I do not think I can sum up my style so simplistically. It depends on a few variables.

I love your creative take on these photo themes Laurel: great job! 🙂 For the picture frame, I wonder if you might use the design as inspiration for a zentangle? 😉 I love your story and the engraving on you and your partner’s rings. <3

Great snippets. The one about the rings caught my attention. My first husband and I had ‘My heart is yours forever’ engraved on our rings. He lost his in the surf after a year of marriage, and I melted mine down after we split 27 years later. So the words were not right.

The photo frame reminds me so much of my mother in law and her style. It reminds me of the trip I will be making to see her for Mother’s Day, as she prepares to leave her house of 50 years. I hope none of her cherished belongings end up like that frame. I hope you find a way to repurpose it.

I hope so too. Thinking of your mother-in-law – that must be difficult to do.

Great pictures..
May be you can do some block printing using that wooden frame on a cloth and then get it stitched as a top 🙂
