A half-dozen or so partially-written posts languish in my “Drafts” folder, begun in eagerness and with great expectations but abandoned when nebulous thoughts refused to allow themselves to be translated into something readable.

The lilac bush in the back yard next door is in full, glorious purple bloom, its delicate beauty standing in harsh contrast to the sharp-edged tones of anger in my neighbour’s voice as she yells at her kids for the umpteenth time today.

Adele sings to me with smoky yearning agony.

Let’s Pretend This Never Happened: (A Mostly True Memoir) arrived this afternoon and sits temptingly on the end of my desk, hysterical irreverent laughter captured (but not tamed) in ink on paper.

My darling is in the kitchen cooking breakfast for dinner, the sizzling sound and tantalizing smell of ham and eggs wafting up the stairs deliciously, distractingly…

I have to go now.
