R is for… Redact
~ by Laurel Regan

Today’s NaPoWriMo prompt is to write an erasure (read more about it here). Here is what I came up with, followed by a copy of the original page. (Points if you know which book it’s from – and extra points for an interpretation of what this bizarre little poem might possibly mean!)

R is for… Redact

The original page – do you know where it’s from?

That’s a great redact. Such a good message.
And I do recognize the original …. by HDT. Had to read it in high school!

I am visiting from the Ultimate Blog Challenge, the Blogging A to Z challenge and the NaBloPoMo challenge. I have to say (and maybe it is simply from a severe lack of sleep) I had some difficulty figuring out the poem today. It also may simply be that I am not familiar with the piece. I have to say it was definitely creative and interesting.

Thank you! It is rather confusing, but with erasures you’re limited to using the words already on the page, so I did the best I could!

Great job, Laurel! What a fun project an erasure is. And you have left us with a beautiful poem. (Of course that’s from Walden, Life in the Woods by Henry David Thoreau) 🙂

I take it your poem is a redact of the original below? I am not familiar with it at all! 😉 <3

Thoreau a great subject for an erasure poem! Enjoyed it! My attempt centered upon Shakespeare’s Sonnet 116.

I originally thought Robinson Crusoe. It seems to be worded in the way of the past. But now I see the answer.
