Q is for… Quadragenarian

as it turns out
that song i loved
when it was first released
only
yesterday
is actually
three decades old
and i can’t quite figure out
where all that time went

I am visiting here today from the Ultimate Blog Challenge, the Blogging A to Z challenge, the NaBloPoMo challenge and also the Camp NaNoWriMo challenge. I am enjoying all these challenges and reading the posts from the participants of the different challenges. I understand completely about wondering of where time has gone. My oldest son will be 19 this year and I can’t figure out where the time as gone.

I know the feeling, Laurel. Years go by, children turn into adults in just the blink of an eye.

I’m visiting from the Ultimate Blog Challenge. I hadn’t seen the alphabet challenge before. It seems similar to a blogging course I’m taking that strengthens writing habit. Keep up the good work.

Oh my G-d… I just learned from your title (and subsequent Googling) that I am a quadragenarian. That makes me sound very ooooooooold.

I know, right?! I was a little startled to discover the word myself.

That is one cool poem! Plus it is sounding true for me too! I told my son just today that the cartoon he is seeing today is 25 years old and he could not believe it!!

Hmmm, I’m actually a quinta (or quinqua) generian at 57! And really, where DOES the time go? Two of my “kids” are in their 20s and two in their 30s!

That’s too funny as I thought it was someone who was in their 80’s! 😉 Yet, I can understand the what-happened?-where-did-the-time-go, it-just-flew feeling! 😉 <3

As much as I like your poems, today I got to learn 2 new words. One is quadragenarian and the other one is tricenarian. Thanks Laurel.

Oh yeah – I know that feeling, thinking it was just yesterday… and then noooo, so many years ago. Time fly, and you describe it so fun in your poem. Laurel:-)

Geez, we do this with movies too. It’s like there’s this time warp when we realize the reason that actor looks so young is that it was shot 15-20 years ago! Love this little poem 🙂 It makes me feel not so alone.

Loved your poem and boy, could I relate. I am also a quintagenerian as that other lady pointed out. My kids are not kids anymore. I feel older these days as if I’m in a new life phase on a downward decline towards old age. Scary, exhilarating and depressing all at the same time. But my spirit is still youthful even if my body isn’t.
