Inspired by Gratitude I
~ by Laurel Regan
for opening my curtains, morning-drowsy
surprised into joy by the first robin of spring
plump, red-breasted, proud
for an abundance of friendship
for the love and trust of a fluffy cat
settled in my arms
asleep, dream-twitching
for artists creating beauty
for the first tentative lilac buds
emerging, pale green, on the tips of each branch
a promise of fragrance-laden purple blooms
for colour, music, textures, taste
for the hope of all things new:
new birth
new life
a fresh, new day
thank you

Now it’s your turn!

How lovely. I particularly like the concept of a drowsy cat asleep in my arms. I wish. Spring is wonderful.

What a neat idea! I’ve seen the gratitude posts on Facebook in November, but I like the idea of remembering at this time of the year as well.

Gratitude for being able to spend a holiday dinner with my husband’s 103 year old aunt, and hearing her words of love for me. Gratitude for snow that did not stick to the ground. Gratitude for seeing the first crocuses of the year, although they were 150 miles from my house.
