If we met for coffee

If we met for coffee, I’d enthusiastically tell you all about what a truly wonderful week I’ve been having – even in spite of a pesky cold that’s been nagging at both me and Peter for the past several days. (It’s really not bad at all – just annoying us both with the sniffles. Barely worth mentioning, in fact!)

I’d let you know how I greatly enjoyed the movie Woman in Gold, which I was able to see with a friend this past weekend. The film is based on a fascinating true story, with great acting all around (I adore Helen Mirren, and Ryan Reynolds was surprisingly well cast), and in spite of some mixed reviews from the critics we both thought it was terrific. Of course it helps that our book club had just recently discussed The Girl You Left Behind, which also deals with the issue of art restitution, so this interesting topic was still fresh in our minds.

I’d mention how much fun I have with our friends at pub trivia nights, and how our team actually came in first this week. There are no prizes for winning, but it’s rather thrilling nonetheless! I was particularly satisfied to have been able to contribute a few obscure answers, at least one of which I didn’t even realize I knew. Always rewarding when that happens!

I’d talk about all the fun stuff that’s coming up in my city over the next few months (I do love the summer festivals here!), and how I’d set aside some time to review the event calendar and update my date book so I’d be sure not to miss out on anything.

Oh, and of COURSE I’d share the absolutely terrific news that was recently sprung on me – that my family (parents and sister) will be flying all the way out to Windsor this fall for a visit with us! In fact, I suspect that I’d spend most of my part of the conversation talking about just that – I am SO excited and looking forward to it!
