I read your words,
delicately laced with warmth and beauty…
smart and innovative, building success upon success…
quirky and bizarre, so funny they make me giggle-snort…
wise and comforting as a loving older sister
I read your words,
painting pictures real enough to be touched…
nurturing empowerment and possibility…
summoning emotions surprising in their strength
I read your words,
thoughts, heart, and life generously shared…
drawn from depths in which I’d drown
I read your words,
And wonder why I try to write.

I try to focus on the inspiration I get from reading something really beautiful. I know everything I do won’t be a winner, but no one’s is!

And there you go again, writing my thoughts in such a beautiful and eloquent way that I wonder why *I* write. I think all writers have felt this way at least sometimes. I suppose the key is to remember that someone, somewhere, has felt this way about something I’ve written, too.

Beautiful Laurel.
I reveled in a gorgeous sentence this morning from the New Yorker: “Obama went up for a rebound and came down empty-handed; he got, instead, the sort of humbling reserved for middle-aged men who stubbornly refuse the transition to the elliptical machine and Gentle Healing Yoga.” (David Remnick)
Same can be said of the words, rhythm, and pacing of your words.
The words Remnick uses takes me to the heart of the scene.
