On our way out this afternoon we stopped to water the tomato plants (there are two of them at the side of the house – an heirloom variety that started from small plants given to me by a co-worker a couple of months ago), and discovered that at least a half dozen more tomatoes have appeared since yesterday! What’s even better is that two of them, right in the centre of one of the plants, are three times the size of the others… those things are really growing! Seasoned gardeners mightn’t think this is a big deal, but I’m so tickled by it because apart from house plants, we’ve never really tried to grow anything before. The thought that something from our yard might actually make it into a salad is rather mind-blowing!
