Done and done

The family arrives tomorrow, and while Peter still has a few things on his list left to finish, I do believe my part of the cleaning and getting ready for them is pretty much DONE. (Well, except for the laundry. There is ALWAYS more laundry.)

I’d do a happy dance to celebrate, but after hours and hours and HOURS of hard physical work today, I’m too exhausted to offer more than a halfhearted flag wave and “yay” à la Monty Python. And there was much rejoicing.

The dust began to settle back on the furniture almost as soon as I finished removing it, windows that looked sparklingly beautiful in the afternoon revealed all kinds of streaks in the direct evening light, and cat hair bunnies are forming as we speak, but you know what? I don’t care. I’ve been reminded several times by various people that it’s the two of us they’re coming to see and spend time with, NOT to inspect the corners of our house… so now that I’ve done the best I can with what I have and the house looks as good as it’s ever going to look I’m going to let go of the worry and stress and just enjoy the visit.

After I finish laundry. And sleep.

How’s your week going?
