Today was my first day back at work after 17 days off… and I am tired! Mentally, for sure, but also rather physically tired, as I got up with the alarm for the first time in quite awhile… after, of course, NOT going to bed at a reasonable hour last night. (Anyone else fall into a whole different pattern of sleep when they’re off work for awhile? I certainly do! For me, vacation mode = stay up late + sleep in.)
But, even though the holidays were wonderful, it actually feels good to be getting back into a regular routine once again.
In other news, I thought I’d share a photo that I took while playing with my new Olloclip lenses, just to give you a hint as to what we’ve been experiencing here in Windsor since we returned from Victoria.

It has been cold! We’ve had a couple of dumps of snow, and the temperature has dropped far lower than it ever has in all of the two years since we moved here. Last night, with the wind chill, it reached -39C – which at that point is almost the same is if you were using Fahrenheit!
Brrr!
Our furnace is working hard to pump out the warm air (I shudder to think what our heating bill will rack up to this month!), and we are staying warm and dry inside. This is one week where I am doubly glad I work from home, so I don’t have to venture outside into the nastiness!
Is your area experiencing a deep freeze?
Please share!

Precisely why I moved from Wisconsin/Michigan and Minnesota to the West Coast. But I do miss the climate changes. Stay warm

I’ll bet! I came FROM the West – the very temperate Victoria, BC – so this is quite a switch for me. Good thing it isn’t always like this!

Tomorrow will be our third snow day following two weeks off for Christmas break. If we don’t go back to school (work) soon, I’m not sure I’ll be able to adjust back to a schedule. Not to mention I’m starting to like this being at home thing. 🙂

Wow! I’ll bet you’re starting to enjoy it… I would too! Here’s hoping the weather improves soon so it’s not TOO big of an adjustment. 🙂

BEAUTIFUL picture!! Yes, we just had the coldest temps in about 10 years! It was about -28 with -50 windchills. It was fun to stay snuggled up warm inside! Hope it warms up soon! Thanks for the post!

This is the second post that I read today that makes me miss England more than ever. I actually liked the weather there. I now live in Southern Spain and now it is nice around 20 Centigrade 70 Fahrenheit.
I truly love when it is colder. I could not stand here during June to September last year, my first summer here.
I know what you mean about late nights. For some reason I have changed my sleeping pattern and have been going to bed at 4 am, I am trying to change it to a more reasonable time.

I don’t mind this kind of cold, really – because I can stay indoors for the most part, and because it never lasts very long! But I am getting a little cabin-feverish, so I hope it warms up a bit soon. 🙂

It has been the coldest ever here in SC. Breaking over a hundred years of records. But this week-end it will be in the 60’s. Gotta love the South.

That photo is amazing Laurel!!! I know what you mean about getting your sleep schedule off when you are on vacation. The kids have been on Christmas break for the last several weeks. They were supposed to go back to school Monday but we got hammered with over a foot of snow and frigid below zero temps and wind chills. Because of that, school has yet to resume and so we are still staying up late and sleeping in. It is going to be a rude awakening one of these days! ♥

Thank you, Kathy! I’m definitely having fun with my new lenses. Wow, your poor kids won’t know what hit them when they have to get up for school sometime soon!

We’ve been near or below zero in upstate New York. It’s four above right now. I can’t wait for it to warm up.

I walked out of the office last night into -5C and it felt positively warm after the weekend at -25C. I’ve never experienced cold this cold! St Louis is functioning surprisingly well after a Monday spent shifting a foot of snow off the roads.

That is a fantastic photo Laurel. Do you love the olloclip? I think I’m going to buy one today, for a pick me up.
On the weather side, we are warming up nicely. It is -1 this morning and AND we are supposed to hit 37 possibly on Saturday! WOOT!

Thank you, Karen! I really am enjoying the Olloclip – it’s a lot of fun to be able to look at things a little differently.
Here’s to warmer weather!
