You know, apart from the blogging bucket list I dreamed up awhile back, I’ve never actually had a proper Bucket List for the whole of my life. Sure, I have hopes, wishes, and dreams just like anybody else… but I haven’t taken the time to transform them into something physical, something tangible, something beyond the confines of my thoughts.
Something in writing.
I think it’s time to remedy this oversight! While I suspect that the ship may have sailed on at least a few of them, you just never know… right? So here it is – as it stands at this moment in time, in no particular order, up for constant review and revision, hopes and wishes and dreams ready to be fulfilled – my Bucket List.
My Bucket List
- Achieve all of the items on my blogging bucket list (of course!).
- Read the whole book and complete all the tasks in The Artist’s Way.
- Get a piano of my own and start taking lessons again.
- Own our home, mortgage-free.
- Become a Certified Zentangle Teacher™ (CZT™).
- Travel to places outside of North America (top of my list: Italy, Greece, France, England, Ireland).
- Learn to play pool properly: understand the rules, develop some technique, practice regularly.
- Get laser eye surgery.
- Conquer my fear and learn to cook with a gas barbecue.
- Reach and maintain a healthy weight.
- Become fluent in Italian.
- Become fluent in French.
To be continued…

I do! My bucket list is primarily focused on trips I still want to make. There are so many places but Alaska, Holland, Scotland and Russia are top on the list right now. I love traveling and can’t wait til I can squeeze in a few more long European visits.

My immediate answer to the “what would you do if you won a lottery” question is ALWAYS travel. Always. 🙂

I don’t have a formal list–it kind of gives me the creeps to think about–but there are many things I still want to do with my life. Traveling for me, too, is a big one. We’ve been to London and I want to go back there, but Italy is next on our list. I don’t know when, though, because I don’t want to leave our dog in a kennel for all that time! Finishing my novel is another one, as well as continuing to write in general. I also want to study French again; I’ve forgotten almost all of it that I took in school! Your list is great–looking forward to reading more.

LOL, it kind of gives me the creeps when I think about it too! I think that’s why it’s taken me so long to put my list into writing. Yes, pets are a definite hindrance to traveling… so worth having, though!

Funny — I haven’t given it a lot of thought — probably because for decades my main thrust was just surviving all the trauma. My bucket list really only contained one item — write the memoir. Now, that is complete and maybe I can think about what I would like to do with the rest of my life — outside of just surviving!
I have always been one to keep the pain well hidden for the sheer purpose of staying strong enough to help those who needed it – and it has been that way for so long, it is now a habit.
Not saying this for pity but just that I never thought about what to do for “me” and you have triggered a new thought — maybe it is time! THANK YOU

I love your bucket list and have actually done a few of them myself. Like, all the countries you say you want to visit? I’ve been to all but Ireland, and I’ll add Spain and Germany to the places I’ve been. I recommend them all. I also bought my own piano and started taking lessons again. I don’t have a formal list. I would like to travel more. Maybe to some Asian countries, and I’d love to go to India and Africa. Good luck! Let us know how you do! 😉 Jeanne

So envious of all your travel! And your piano! I really need to get on with accomplishing some of these things.

I have never written down my bucket list although I often think that I should! I’m very pleased to say that #1 on this mental bucket list was to do a safari in Africa, specifically Kenya. Last summer that dream came true–much sooner than I expected! It was most definitely the “trip of lifetime”, each day being as exciting as the last. Worth every penny it cost me! Next on my bucket list is to pass the audition to become a certified Suzuki violin teacher. This I have been working towards since September and I think that I have never worked so hard to achieve a goal before in my entire life!

I love that your safari dream came true – how wonderful! And it will be fabulous when your teaching dream comes to pass as well. All the best in achieving that one! 🙂

Hi Laurel….you do great bucket lists–but I agree that a bucket list for your whole life is VERY important. I have one that I review every January 1 and add new things to it all the time. Works great for me! What I think is fun is seeing YOUR bucket list and learning new things about you. In fact that is such a great idea that I might use it to do a post of my own in the future. Thanks for the idea! ~Kathy

I have a bucket list….Its still in draft form, but I keep meaning to post it on my blog as its own page. The top of my list is always travel, and to learn to knit/crochet/sew. But I think I need to add working through the entire Artist’s Way to the list. I’ve had it for years, and I start..and stop…but I really, really want to commit to doing it.

I love this post! Mostly because I learned new things about you and now I want all your wishes to come true. I think you should get them all simply because you took the time to write them down – and share! Not sure I could do this.

I have bucket items, but like you (until this post, at least), I’ve never sat down to actually write them down. Writing is important. Writing makes it real. Yes, I think I will do that 🙂 Thank you for the nudge!
