If you happened to be hanging around Alphabet Salad last year around this time, you might remember that I participated in the Blogging from A to Z Challenge by Tangling from A to Z. (And if you weren’t here back then, do check out the posts – they were a lot of fun!)
Though I have a ton of blogging friends who have jumped on board for this year’s Blogging from A to Z Challenge, I wasn’t actually planning on joining in myself (beyond reading their posts, of course!). After last year’s tangling extravaganza, I was pretty much stumped for any kind of new theme idea, plus I was struggling with how to fit A to Z posts into my regular blog features, so I figured I’d just skip it.
Then today I stumbled across NaPoWriMo – National Poetry Writing Month – and the wheels started turning.
What if I were to combine the two challenges into one?
Could I possibly, finally, have an idea for a theme? And hey, what on earth was stopping me from shaking things up a little, just for a month, by suspending or modifying some of my regular weekly blog features in favour of participating in the April challenges? I’m the blog owner, writer, and editor, after all – there’s got to be some kind of perk involved in maintaining all those roles, right?!
So, after some creative thinking and a bit of editorial schedule juggling, my decision was made… and “Poetry from A to Z” was conceived.
And I am SO excited about it!
So here’s what Alphabet Salad readers can expect to see in April.
~ Poetry from A to Z ~
→ I’ll write and share a poem every day for NaPoWriMo.

→ On the days where there is an assigned letter for the Blogging from A to Z Challenge (i.e., every day except Sundays), my poem will be inspired by a word beginning with the relevant letter.

→ Sunday’s poems will be focused on and inspired by gratitude, and posts will include the April Gratitude Linkup so that you can share your own gratitude posts.

→ My Monday posts in April will still link up with #MicroblogMondays, and each Friday post will continue to include a photo that will link up with Photo Friday (though no guarantees that the photo will align with that day’s poem!).
→ All of my daily posts will also link up with both NaBloPoMo and the Ultimate Blog Challenge.

Of course I’ll still be tangling in April (posting to my Ten Thousand Tangles Facebook Page and blog), as well as participating in the Fat Mum Slim Photo A Day Challenge (sharing on Instagram, Twitter, Flickr, and the FMS Photo A Day group on Facebook), but will wait until May to share all of that creative goodness on Alphabet Salad.
I am telling you, April is going to be an AMAZING journey… and I hope you’ll come along for the ride!
Are you participating in any April challenges?
Please share!

Wow, I got tired just reading about all the challenges you’re doing. PHEW! That NaNoPoWriMo sounds tempting though. Maybe I might try it, too, since my A-Z will probably have lots of poetry in it anyhow. Have fun!

The nice thing is that it’s all still only one about writing post a day – just sharing it with lots of different challenges!
