I’m tangling from A to Z – Q is for…
…Qian-long
…Quare
…Quib
(Pssst… new here? Welcome to Alphabet Salad! For some background on how and why I got involved in the Blogging from A to Z Challenge, check out this post… and, if you’d like to catch up on my progress to date, all of my challenge posts are tagged with Tangling from A to Z. Glad you stopped by, and hope you’ll return!)
Tangle Practice
Today’s tangle session, from the practice to the string to the finished tile, was just AWFUL! I couldn’t seem to get the hang of a couple of the tangles, and then putting them all together just… flopped. I half thought I’d redo my Q tile and post something more presentable, but decided in the interest of authenticity to go ahead and show you the icky one. It’s a little embarrassing, but realistically, they can’t ALL be winners. I’ll consider this an exercise in letting go of perfectionism. 😉
(Interestingly enough, I noticed after the fact that I’d forgotten to sign my Q tile before taking the photo. Why am I not surprised?!)

Border & String
Just to carry on with the whole A to Z theme, I thought I’d make each day’s “string” resemble the appropriate letter for the day. I can’t always promise that the finished tiles will look anything like the letters – it all depends on which tangles I’m using and how the drawing evolves. We’ll just have to see what happens!

No, I am not participating in the A to Z Challenge because it is not suitable for my blog. Well, I suppose that I really could make it suitable; however, I work from my blogging calendar. It often is used as part of visibility campaigns, which is why I work from a blogging calendar.

You have me hooked on zentangling. I’m just beginning my practice, but it is so engaging. I have several good books I am studying and your pattern suggestions are very helpful. I LOVE these q’s!! The shading theory and process is still quite confusing, but I hope it will eventually become clearer as patterning decisions become easier.

I’m so glad you’re enjoying it! It really is a very relaxing, restful, and satisfying pastime, and the shading etc. comes with time and practice.
