Since we’re nearing the end of the year, which is typically a time of reassessment, forward planning, and goal-setting, I thought I’d revisit a post I wrote in early 2014 and add some updates as to where my blogging bucket list stands nearly a year later.
My Blogging Bucket List – January 11, 2014
(today’s comments in GREEN)
As I was thinking ahead and musing about what might happen – what I want to happen – throughout my next decade of blogging, I thought I’d take some time to put it all into writing… partly to indulge myself, but mostly because I know doing so makes things happen. (It really does!)
So… what do I want to do?
Where do I want my blogging life to go?
My Blogging Bucket List
Complete another 365-day marathon of daily blogging with NaBloPoMo. (Maybe this year? We shall see…)
UPDATE: Just four more posts to write after this one, and this goal is achieved! Daily blogging has become such a habit that I just might try this one again in 2015.
Have at least one opportunity to do a REALLY amazing giveaway.
UPDATE: Done! I’m keeping this one on the list, though, as I’d love to do more REALLY amazing giveaways in 2015!
Earn enough money from blogging – either directly through my blog or indirectly through associated writing or other work – to pay for my annual blogging costs: blog hosting, plus attendance (ticket, travel, and accommodations) at the BlogHer conference.
UPDATE: I’m nowhere close yet, but being accepted into the BlogHer Publishing Network was a good baby step.
Build up a database of my own photos to use with my blog posts.
UPDATE: In progress!
Produce an e-book (not yet sure about which direction I’d like to go with it).
UPDATE: Hmmm, I kind of forgot about this one. I’ll have to give it some more thought and take action in 2015.
Get a part-time, work-from-home, blogging-related job (dream: BlogHer) to supplement my current part-time, work-from-home, non-blogging-related income.
UPDATE: Alas, this is still just a dream.
May it be so…
UPDATE: Here’s to checking off more of these items in 2015!
What’s on your Blogging Bucket List?

I’ve been blogging daily since late April of 2011, and have some 3700 photos on my iPhone. Perhaps my 2015 resolution should be to stop taking photos and use what I have – and maybe be more focused on what I want to accomplish with my blog. You’ve done well – good luck in 2015.

I am going to try–TRY–once again to complete the UBC challenge in January. I haven’t done well with these in the past, so I’m trying to organize myself a little better before it starts so hopefully I might be a little more successful. But even if I can’t finish it, at least I’ll get my blog moving again. You’ve done a great job getting started with your goals. Don’t be discouraged by the ones you didn’t manage–a bucket list is a lifetime goal!

You’re right – I have time! All the best in the UBC challenge – you can do it!

You made great progress, Laurel, especially becoming part of the Blogher community. It’s always surprising when we see an item we completely forgot – it can be either other items took priority or that item wasn’t as desirable as we once thought. I wonder which you’re book item is – perhaps evaluating it in the context of your greater goals ( is time/money spent on that endeavor going to propel you closer to your Zentangle seminar goal) will help you decide whether an Ebola is worth pursuing right now.
Looking forward to more tangle fun with you in 2015!

Wise words, Sammy – I’ll have to give some thought as to whether an e-book is important and purposeful. Thank you for sharing your insight!

Congratulations, Beautiful! I’ve watched you put in the work and accomplish so many things that weren’t on your blogging bucket list. You’ve actually kicked blogging butt this year! See you in 2015!

Awesome list and progress! Not to mention inspiration to not only put the goals in writing, but to publicize them for accountability! I may just have to borrow your idea. Congratulations on being able to mark things off. Don’t become so focused on “old” items that you forget to add new ones. Our goals are ever-changing. A bucket list is a living breathing document.
Oh. Take time to CELEBRATE the huge strides you have already made.
